Sugi Yoga™
Beginner - Advanced
Created
by founder Ofer Erez, Sugi
Yoga is a new style of yoga that combines hatha yoga with
The Feldenkrais method® developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais,
a physicist, educator and Judo expert. Another distinction
of Sugi Yoga is its emphasis on “ease”, where
other yoga styles focus on “effort.”
As we intentionally incorporated aspects of Feldenkrais®
into our hatha yoga classes, we began to see what we had expected.
Our students experienced an immense improvement in their mobility.
Combining the Feldenkrais® principles with the traditional
postures, or asanas, of hatha yoga also makes learning enjoyable
and rapid. Our students are often surprised to find that asanas
they thought were impossible to do become not only possible,
but pleasant and fun after only a few months of practice.
Sugi Yoga can be practiced by people of almost any age and
ability, and its benefits are rich.
• Better health through better habits
• Enhanced functioning on all levels
• Improved stamina, strength, mobility, balance, flexibility
• Reduced pain
• Increased self-awareness and self-confidence
Sugi Yoga makes learning easy and comfortable.
There are six parts to a Sugi Yoga class:
|
1. |
Relaxation –observe our own body and breathing
patterns and learn how to allow for the possibility
for change to begin |
|
2. |
Warm up - to remind the body how to be more pliable
|
|
3. |
Postures or asanas - to teach the body how to perform
increasingly more challenging movements with ease while
preparing for pranayama |
|
4. |
Breathing or pranayama - to practice moving life
energy in and out of the body and prepare for meditation
|
|
5. |
Meditation or dhyana - to teach the mind and body
to be quiet and still so we can replenish ourselves
|
|
6. |
Taking the benefits back to life - to let the peace
and well being generated by yoga become a part of all
aspects of our life |

"Ofer, your style of yoga has allowed me to resume movement
I was unable to perform, even practicing other styles of yoga
for almost tem years prior to your class."
S.W., Avid tennis player
I wanted to enjoy practicing yoga on my own, without the need
to go to a yoga class but for years I was unable to accomplish
this. Then I found Sugi Yoga and after some weeks I had the
confidence and self motivation to really enjoy my own practice.
Thank you Sugi yoga for setting me free.

As a Sugi Yoga student for more than five years,
I have noticed many positive changes in both my body and mind.
Sugi Yoga is a moving meditation which quiets my mind as it
relaxes but also strengthens, tones and increases the mobility
of my body.
-Nancy
For the past six months I have been taking two to three Sugi
classes per week and practicing Sugi movements 2- 5 hours
per week at home. What a difference! The movements I ask my
body to do seem to be much more fluid, the body is not yelling
back at me as if to say stop. It is quite interesting to me
to witness the ease at which my Sugi Yoga training, physically
and mentally, has incorporated itself into my every day activities.
